COFC History
Caps Off For Charity (COFC) was founded in June of 2007, and has raised $5,000 dollars for the charities Ein Herz Für Kinder (EHFK) and Toys for Tots to date. All donations made to COFC go directly to EHFK, and during the month of December, to Toys for Tots.
COFC first appeared in a Weekly Word Column on the Tokio Hotel humor site Tokio Hotel Does America. The mission of COFC is to raise money for EHFK and to persuade Tokio Hotel guitarist Tom Kaulitz to take his cap off for the cause.
Recently, prompted by the lack of cap on Tom's shiny little head, COFC has changed their mission statement:
You may have noticed a strange lack of cap on Tom's head as of late. This has prompted us to rethink our goals and mission for COFC. What started out as a fun, humorous side project at THDA has become so much more over the past two years.
We've raised $5,000, all of us together, and that means so much more than Tom taking his cap off ever could. Not that we don't love you, Tom. So, this portion of our mission statement has changed. It's grown. Let's make that insane amount of money bigger and let's do it in the positive, inspirational spirit of Tokio Hotel.
Let's do it for us, and most importantly, to those who benefit from our efforts.
As of July, 2009 they have reached their third goal of $5,000 and they've given Tom six COFC letters to date. Their new goal has been announced at $10,000.
